New Car Destroyed in ALA Arson

This past weekend at 2am, an obsessed stalker lit a cosplayers car on fire. It destroyed 7 cars, and one of them was mine. My car was a brand new, the first car I purchased on my own. Just like that the car I worked so hard to get is just gone. The arsonist is detained, but the damage is still here.

My friend, Shay, started a ko-fi goal in the aftermath and through the incredible support of the cosplay community we were able to raise $2000. Now that things are settling down, the official estimates are rolling in from insurance and they don’t look great. Aside from my deductible, I just paid a down payment that I will likely not be getting back, and top it off, the insurance company is being slick, currently saying the car dropped  in value once it was driven off the lot, and so I would have to pay for the difference. The $2000 we raised helps A LOT, and I am grateful. I feel bad asking for donations, but I’m starting this Go Fund Me with a goal of $5000, to bring me to a total of $7000. These funds will go to cover the deductible,  the money insurance won’t cover, because of the drop in the car’s value, a down payment on a replacement car, and a temporary car rental (as I am under 25, many rental places are hesitant to rent to me, and the ones that are willing are significantly more expensive.)

I want to be as transparent with everyone as possible about how this money will be used. I don’t want to ask for others help, but this is more than I could possibly handle alone. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated, spread the word, or shared their support - I couldn’t do this without you.

We are currently talking with insurance, the bank, and the car dealership in order to do everything possible to bring this number down - I will continue to post updates to this campaign as new information is revealed. Any extra money that we raise will be donated to the other victims.
