Nepal Audiology Volunteering

Donation protected

Hi all,

As some of you may be aware, in November of this year, I will be heading to Pokhara in Nepal to help at the ear hospital. I will be volunteering my time, as well as taking across equipment to assist.

I am raising money towards this cause and all of the donations will be going towards new equipment in the hospital. In particular, the team require a new REM machine (to test and verify hearing aids), a newborn hearing screener and sound proof booths, as well as smaller items (including tubing, domes and programming cables). In addition to your donations, I will be taking across donated hearing aids and other consumables.

According to the WHO, over 5% of the world have a disabling hearing loss, with the greatest prevalence being in South Asia (In Nepal, disabling hearing loss is four times more prevalent than the rest of the world).

I will be volunteering through EarAid Nepal. EarAid Nepal are a Christian organisation. They opened the ear hospital at the end of 2015. It has helped treat ear diseases and hearing loss, as well as train and educate Nepali staff. To find out more, you can visit their website. You can also donate to them directly through their page.

Thank you all for your support and kind donations.
