Nemi Grace fights rare cancer

Nemi Grace Speaks is a gorgeous 5 month-old baby girl from South Carolina. Who loves smiling and lights up every room she enters. Nemi developed so fast and was ahead of the curve for babies her age. She is already crawling and trying to stand up on her own. She is called our “Big Girl.” Her parents are Jen & Deon. Nemi already loves annoying her big brother Noah (2y/o).  

On October 10th, 2018 Nemi received some terrible news. Nemi Grace was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, a rare cancer like disease. This has completely turned her and her family’s world upside down.  Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis is a type of cancer that can damage tissue or cause lesions to form in one or more places in the body. Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare cancer that begins in LCH cells. LCH cells are a type of dendritic cell which fights infection. Sometimes there are mutations (changes) in LCH cells as they form. These include mutations of the BRAF , MAP2K1, RAS and ARAFgenes. These changes may make the LCH cells grow and multiply quickly. This causes LCH cells to build up in certain parts of the body, where they can damage tissue or form lesions. 

Nemi was diagnosed with Multi-system LCH.  The funds raised here will be used for medical expenses, meals, travel costs, living expenses, etc. Jen is a nurse tech and Deon works in transposition and logistics , both will be away from their jobs off and on rotating working around each other schedules during Nemi’s year long treatment. Anything that you can contribute, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden that the Speaks Family is facing.
