On December 17, 2018 Nelson, was diagnosed with a rare life-threatening auto-immune disease known as Juvenile Dermatomyositis.
There is no cure for this auto-immune disease which causes calcification of the soft tissue and arteries, muscle weakness and deterioration, and skin rashes. This deadly disease forced him to leave his apartment due to not being able to work. He now focuses all his energy on finding medical help and staying alive.
For the three years preceding this diagnosis, Nelson has had to battle Lupus Overlap Disease, and now faces the fight of his life against two life-threatening diseases, and he needs your help. He lacks the financial means to pursue the medical treatment he needs.
Who is Nelson?
Nelson is a 23-year-old son, friend, engineer, and aspiring artist. He graduated with high honors from Penn State University. Served internships with Exelon and JP Morgan, and following his graduation, landed what he discovered to be his dream job with Urban Outfitters as a QA Engineer. The job required he move to Philadelphia, a city that has always “fascinated” him.
Nelson was living his dream. For a few months anyway. Then he was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis which is developing rapidly. The diagnosis forced Nelson to give up his job and his new life in a city he loves to focus his energy on his fight to stay alive.
His HOPE
Recently, Nelson found a Doctor who can treat him, but it is expensive. The treatments will cost Nelson and his family $20,000. A sum they simply can’t pay alone.
