UPDATE: Rebekah and Greg are worried about being evicted.  Despite looking for 500 jobs a week, Rebekah has been unable to find employment and has been going on interviews with people telling her she is "overqualified". It has been a very brutal time.  She is fighting her Unemployment Appeal
and got a lawyer for that since her last employer, who abused and bullied her, said that she quit when they fired her.  She is waiting for that to come
through, but even it does, there won't be enough money to survive. Right now, Greg and Rebekah need help with being able to pay rent or they could get an eviction notice. They can't afford to pay for basics at this point like cat food and basic needs. Despite Greg working full time, and living in public housing with a discounted rent, they still owe $1155 a month and they are not going to make it.  Please, please help. - A caring friend of Rebekah's 06/29/2019

I am writing to ask for help for Rebekah LaSala, a fallen hiker and fellow "Bear".  (In the Spirit of her "Super Slow Bears Hiking and Walking Group". She is part Native American. She is losing her car which died recently due to not being able to repair it and my phone bill, electric and internet is all about to be shut off.It has taken all she has to keep going.   She has an eviction notice. She has lost her health insurance. She is a fallen "Bear" who needs help. The name "Bear" comes from her Native American name "Strongbear" and her husband's nickname for her. She walked up the trail, in struggle due to being in pain from her fibromyalgia which she has lived with for 30 years, and got poked with hiking poles, laughed off the trail and called fat and once got poked in the stomach who injured her while she said, "Fat people do not belong on the trail". Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she started this group to change her life but also to change the lives of others who have felt completely disregarded on the trail and off.  She used her Native American philosophy of the fact that EVERYONE has a place in nature and she started a group that is a powerful statement that flies in the face able-ism and she cares about YOU...she cares about people who have experienced elitism, like her, on the trail and has gone out of her way to start a group focusing on providing a healing and inclusive space for people to join out in nature where they can be free and pursue their fitness goals. She is incredible.  She has had that group for two years.  She has contributed greatly to helping to motivate people and now I am asking for your help for her. She is a warrior and a leader.  She has fought for Leonard Peltier and Native Americans for 30 years and even walked across the country for Native American rights until her feet bled on the Walk Across America for Mother Earth 1992. She was elected as a State Bernie Sanders Delegate for Washington State and was heavily silenced b/c many were afraid and intimidated by her powerful voice for Native American rights.

Rebekah is married to Greg LaSala and he is well known as a leader in the mountaineering community.  He is very humble and is more concerned with people having an amazing time on the trail than anything else.  He only makes $16 an hour and it is not enough for them to survive since she is not working. Greg is well known in the King County Hiking and Mountaineering group.

Due to being discriminated against for being Native American on one job and being sexually harassed and intimidated on another, she has not been
able to pay for my bills and she has an eviction notice.  The last employer is preventing her from getting unemployment by saying that she quit when she was fired for retaliation from harassment, so she does not have Unemployment.  She is looking for about 400 jobs a week online and interviewing like crazy, but she has not found anything yet.
She has fibromyalgia, PCOS and Insulin Resistance and many urgent medical issues that require ongoing care.  Please help with whatever
you can. I can GUARANTEE you she appreciates it with EVERY FIBER of her being.  Thank you, Anonymous
