Need help for son with R.P.

Nyle was diagnosed with R.P. (retinitis pigmentosa) when he was 4 yrs. old. This disease robs people of their vision, slowly, over time. He will soon be entering his teen years and his vision is progressively getting worse. He loves to play video games and board games. He is a math whiz and is extremely comedic. He aspires to be a psychiatrist when he grows up. He is a great soccer player, but sports are becoming more and more difficult to participate in due to his declining vision.
He has been blessed with the opportunity to participate in 2 separate clinical trials at the U of M Kellogg Eye Center. We live in WI and will be traveling to MI several times over this year and next while he participates in this chance to preserve and or improve his vision. While we will get compensated up to a certain amount per visit, this will not cover all of our expenses. I have never asked for money from anyone, but I have no shame when it comes to my son. I want to alleviate as much stress as possible for our family while going through this experience. We will have to miss work (and he will miss school), we will have to drive for 8 hrs. each way, or fly, we will have to rent a car, pay for a hotel, buy food, and will have to pay for someone to care for our two dogs while we are out of town. 
I would be forever grateful if we could get some help as we enter this exciting, yet stressful, journey.
