Ned Evett's "Glass Guitar" Album

Donation protected

Hey everybody,

My hand is feeling the benefits of this new treatment, so everything is working great guitarwise.

Hi, I'm Ned Evett, and I want to tell you about my new album 'Glass Guitar'.  First off, it is a big deal to ask friends, family, and fans of my music for anything, because they have already given me so much, and way more than money. I am eternally grateful. Here is a little info about me and my new project.

I was born in Nashville Tennesee, and grew up in Boise, Idaho, learning to play guitar while at Boise High School.

After winning the North American Rock Guitar Competition in 2003, USA Today crowned me "The Master of the Glass-Necked Guitar". I started playing Glass-Necked Guitars (technically it's fretless guitar) around 1996.

I am very grateful for the USA Today quote, but people sometimes ask me, what does it actually mean?

What is a glass-necked guitar?
How is it played and what does it sound like?
And, are they really that unique?

I believe they are!

So, I'm recording a brand new album called
'Glass Guitar' to share the music I make with these instruments with the rest of the world.

Each one of the songs on 'Glass Guitar' has a sound and story all it's own. I'm using gofundme to support the production of the album and help spread the word. You of course, can help, and because of the aggressive release date (May 28th) I am asking for your help sooner than later.

But first, let's meet these incredibly unique guitars, which are played with bare fingers sliding against the glass, instead of using a traditional bottleneck slide.

I made the world's first glass guitar in 1996, with help from my friends Rob Renick and Cherian Jubilee. It is named 'The Golden Gate', after the Golden Gate bridge which is near the music store where I bought it in San Francisco.

Next up is my Fernandes Native Pro, which sounds a bit like Jimi Hendrix playing Hank Williams tunes from another dimension, sometimes.

In this corner, weighing in at 18 lbs, is the Globro, the world's first glass-necked resonator guitar.

One of the highlights on the new album is me singing into the Globro and making the strings resonate with my voice.

Next is my Danelectro DanZero, which is light as a feather, and super spooky sounding. It has a radiused glass fingerboard, like the one I built for John Frusciante .

Next is the Ripslide, my Peavey stretch telecaster featured in my Guitar World Magazine video blog .

I was born in Nashville Tennesee, and recorded my last album 'Treehouse' there. It was produced by Adrian Belew, who set me on this glass-necked path years ago with his inspiring fretless guitar work with David Bowie, Talking Heads, Laurie Anderson, and King Crimson.

I have written dozens of new songs since then, and many have become fan favorites at my live shows, such as 'Firefly '.

I am recording 'Glass Guitar' in Los Angeles California this spring, and the release date is May 28th 2016!

It means everything to me to still be playing music for all of you. I have been fortunate to tour with the world with some of my favorite guitarists,  including several 'pinch me is this actually happening' tours with guitarist Joe Satriani, the king of heavy melody.  I want to make an album that is filled with the love and support people have given me over the years, great songs, and the guitars and musical styles I have been playing for over 25 years.

Glass Guitar is that album, and through gofundme you will have access to the whole process, from recording to mixing. I will be forever grateful for your support on this journey.

I've focused all my creative energies on getting you the new album along with other special items, including personal delivery of 'Glass Guitar' via a house concert option, and some of my custom sculptures called'nedheads'.

With your help, 'Glass Guitar' will also be a springboard for a tour of the United States, The UK, Europe, and South East Asia and Australia.

Thanks to everyone for supporting live music, and I hope to see you all very soon, and thank you for supporting the making of my new album 'Glass Guitar'.

John Warfel and Jerms Lanningham made this amazing logo for me, it still makes me smile.
