Coming Home From Standing Rock

NOTE: this was originally our fundraiser to get to Standing Rock and stay warm and safe there, after five months and $5000 of support, we are heading home and raising funds for our trip back, any more help is generous and incredibly appreciated.
My name is Caro Gonzales. I am 26. I am Chemehuevi and a two spirit. I am an organizer for Idle No More.
Me and my wife have been in Standing Rock since August. We are organizing direct actions, rallies, art projects, Lakota language schools, with organizations like the Indigenous Environmental Network, 350.org, Green Peace, the Indigenous People Power Project, and the International Indigenous Youth Council to raise awareness and stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.
We are also working with Senator Bernie Sanders and the National Congress of Indians to create policy solutions that respect indigenous people.
We have been organizing here on the ground for over four months.
It is our time to come home. It was a very hard decision to make, especially now that on the same day of my felony pretrial (our speculated day of departure), the Oceti Sakowin camp will be evicted by the Army Corp of Engineers. With extreme guilt, we realize that we are not prepared to face another raid. I received my felony the day the Treaty Camp was bull dozed, and we both have extreme ptsd, which has been being triggered with every successive escalation of police brutality. We have been here since August, and have dedicated our selves to Standing Rock. It is our time to rest, and organize solidarity from olympia.
Regardless of my felony charge being dropped or not by or at the pretrial hearing, we will begin driving home on December 5th. I know we have asked much over the past several months, and we appreciate everything. Thank you for helping us get and stay here, now please if you can, help us get home.
