My name is Paul von Wupperfeld and Rebecca Sue Fletcher has been a very close friend of mine since elementary school. I've started this campaign because she needs our help.
In August 2015, Rebecca went in for a routine mammogram. The mammogram showed a mass on her right breast, and her doctor recommended an ultrasound of that area. On a Friday in September, Rebecca went in for the ultrasound, and afterwards a radiologist told her he was very concerned that the mass was cancerous. He told her to get a biopsy right away. Rebecca scheduled the biopsy for the next Monday and on that Tuesday, she was diagnosed with Infiltrating Lobular Carcinoma--breast cancer. It was later found to be stage 3.
Since her diagnosis, Rebecca has undergone a range of medical tests and treatments. She had a lumpectomy to remove the tumor that was found, had more tests to determine if the cancer has spread, and she has assembled a team of oncologists and other medical professionals. Rebecca is now scheduled to receive between four and six weeks of radiation therapy. After the radiation therapy, Rebecca will start hormone treatment, which she will need to continue for several years.
At the time of her diagnosis, Rebecca was working two part-time jobs and helping to care for her mother and a nephew with special needs. She had to give up one of these jobs to make time for doctors' appointments, her surgery and recovery. This whole process has been exhausting and overwhelming, but her prognosis is good and Rebecca is determined to overcome this and get her life back. Her dream diagnosis is to be cancer free.
Rebecca needs the help of her friends to help to pay for the care she needs to fight and win this battle - anything you can contribute will help.
