On Thursday March 9, 17 our world took at turn in the wrong direction! Alex and Pearl rushed my 4 month old twin neice Jayleen to CHOC due to noticing her left eye had been bothering her. For a while now we all had a feeling something was wrong with her eye by the way it looked and how Jay was acting and a light on her left eye in photos. But after multiple Dr appointments, her prior trip to CHOC due to RSV and her recent Dr appointment for her eye itself this "Bilateral Retinoblasoma" was never caught! Jay was sent home to wait for a referral for a specialist. Upon waiting Alex and Pearl spoke with friends and family about her situation and was told to hurry her to CHOC. Once Jay was seen at the hospital, right away she was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma not only was it her left eye it was both eyes! Bilateral Retinoblastoma is a rare form of eye cancer that begins in the back of the eye. The cancer begins when cells begin to grow out of control. Sadly for Jay her left eye had a large tumor behind it that was about to spread to the nerve, so she had to have it removed. She still has 4 tumors near her right eye and is currently undergoing chemo. Jayleen has done so well responding to all of this she has had some scares here and there but has ultimately fought thru thanks to all the Love, Support and Prayers! Now comes the long road ahead of Alex and Pearl! Jay will need to be at multiple Dr and Hospital appointments weekly, she will need extra attention and extra necessities ! Alex and Pearl are unexpectedly at a financial lost with their family of 6. At this time we ask you help support them at this time of need!
