Next Big Thing 2019 Pageant
Through a series of workshops and visual representation, Next Big Thing 2019 will showcase and celebrate bigger bodied people (BBA's) who have talent, intelligence, grace and beauty. There is no wrong way to have a body, and these workshops will set the stage for Next Big Thing 2019 - a spotlight and a platform for bigger bodies to thrive in Boston. We are utilizing our ultra exquisite pageant Next Big Thing 2019 to promote positive self-image and self-esteem in 2019 for our big bodied community.

Escape Beauties (EBs), now known as Big Body Ambassadors or Big Body Allies (BBA's), as a demonstration and call to action, displayed the negative and derogatory remarks thrown towards full-figured womxn, men and drag community from society and the media on their bodies to not only combat the stigma, but create space for healing for all those who have been disenfranchised.
The Body Positivity movement, also known as “body pos” stems back to the origins of the feminist movement in the 1800s, and has principles rooted on ally-ship and support of everyone’s lived experiences.
As curvy womxn of color, we understand the struggles of being bigger bodied in today’s society.
72% of womxn in America are a size 14 and up but mainstream media and fashion primarily caters to a smaller audience, leaving a large scope of worthy, beautiful womxn left out of the conversation.
This “sample size” stigma also forces womxn who do not fit this profile to feel inadequate, worthless, and insignificant. To put it simply, WE have had enough of it, and have decided to host NEXT BIG THING 2019 pageant as an opportunity and a statement to highlight womxn’s (now womxn, men, and queer artists) beauty as an act of social resistance- and truly an "Escape of the Image"
society has tried to force upon us.
Want to join us in making a difference? Do you feel motivated, or are you wondering how to find your “Escape!”
We are working to raise money for Next Big Thing 2019 Pageant hosted by Escape Image in collaboration with Next Leadership Development Corporation, and That Child Got Talent (TCGT) Entertainment. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to all of us.
Please donate and share with your networks. We are all we have in the fight to ensure body shame and fetish culture do not further impact the next generation.
Escape Image (formally Escape Image Consulting) was founded in 2011, working to support local commerce through body positive training and education. In the midst of a social emergency founders of Escape Image Consulting, Nicole N. Flynt and Danita Lee, worked to activate the Dudley Square area in partnership with local retailers. They produced in-store fashion shows, modeling at Ashley Stewart in both Dudley and Mattapan Square, which would later become the inspiration for Next Big Thing. Seeing the need for community education and training on positive self image for women and girls of color from marginalized communities, the founders created a guerrilla marketing campaign platform entitled Escape Beauties (EBs), now called BBA's which includes men, LGBTQ, drag, and womxn.
