Dear Family, Friends and Community Partners,
I appreciate you being a part of my life and would like to share an exciting opportunity with you. Iowa Amateur Athletic Union (Iowa AAU) is sponsoring an AAU baseball exchange with Yamanashi Japan from August 13-20, 2017. This cultural exchange started in 1990 and is one of the longest running sports exchanges in the USA. I am one of 15 central Iowa 2017 high school graduates who are coming together to represent our state and school districts through baseball.
I would be proud and honored to represent Bondurant-Farrar school district. I don’t take it lightly the importance and impact of being a productive, well-rounded student athlete within our community. Being involved in sports has taught me important life lessons and values, such as; teamwork, good sportsmanship, fair play, respect, and problem-solving. All important life skills needed to be successful both on and off the field. I am asking you to support this international experience because I want to learn more about the game of baseball in a different culture. I also want to learn more about the beliefs and values of the Japanese culture, including how to communicate with people who have a different language but a common interest.
My fundraising goal is $1000. Please know your tax-deductible donation ($5, $25, $50, $100 or more) will go directly to cover overall expenses. Day to day I will be putting your contribution to work, and upon my return will provide you with a short letter along with photos from my experiences. I would also be happy to make a small presentation if you’d like for your company, civic organization, etc.
Upon returning from Japan I will be staring my first year at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA to pursue an AA degree in Business Administration while playing baseball.
