A Natural Expansion
600 acres of forests, ponds, waterfalls and animals galore make up Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay, WI. In the Nature Center building on the grounds is the OAK Learning Center. The Center's nature-based 4-year-old kindergarten program is designed so kids spend about 60% to 80% of their days outdoors. This program is tuition free and accessible to all. It has been so successful that mothers call wanting to put their not-yet-born babies on a waiting list! We want to bring this program to more families, and we need to expand the physical indoor space and make safe parking zones to handle more children!
Children hear real wolves call, and learn about social habits of animals. They gather water samples from ponds and learn science by studying what they find in the water. They problem solve by building forts. They run and play, developing physical stamina, self-confidence and imagination. Join us in reconnecting children to nature!
The Friends of the Wildlife Sanctuary, Inc., a 501(c) (3) corporation, asks for your tax deductible donation to build a 12,800 square foot addition adjacent to the current Nature Center building. This expansion is critically needed and most importantly will allow us to grow our innovative nature-based, 4-year-old kindergarten program and our environmental education classes. Naming opportunities are available.
We plan to begin construction in spring with a completion date in 2017, so your donation will go to work soon! Help us reconnect kids with nature through A Natural Expansion.
