Nate Mack Robotics Road to Kentucky

My name is Casey Juliano, and I am the coach of the Nate Mack Elementary School Robotics Team. I’m overjoyed and proud to say that 2 of our robotics teams, a total of 11 students,  have qualified to represent Nevada at the VEX IQ World Competition in Louisville, Kentucky which takes place in April.  One of our 4th/5th Grade teams, Team 11900A won the right to represent us at Worlds by winning the Skills award, scoring higher than any other Elementary or Middle School School.  Our other team, our “Girl Powered” Team of 4th/5th Graders the Vex IQ State Championships for Nevada-Elementary Division.

Nate Mack Elementary School is a Title 1 school focused on 21st Century learning and working to continually grow in the area of  STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Our Robotics team is focused, hard-working, and driven, but it is beyond our wildest dreams that we have qualified 2 teams for such a large event. Being an at-risk school, many of our students have not traveled far from their neighborhoods, let alone out of state to meet competitors from all over the world. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them.

Educational travel is a key component of our new globally-focused curriculum. The opportunity to witness new cultures first hand and experience engineering and technology on a global scale is one that only enhances a student’s enthusiasm for learning. Students will take part in the World Competition, robotic learning experiences, and collaboration with elementary students from other countries. It is my hope that all of my team will be able to participate in this unique learning opportunity.

In an effort to provide as much financial assistance for the 11 students as possible, we are here to ask for your support. Our collective goal is to raise $16,000 for this competition which will help pay for hotel accommodations, flights, meals, registration fees, and transportation. We greatly appreciate any donation you are willing to contribute. An individual child’s sponsorship with chaperones is $1,425, but every amount adds up! Our group will be working over the next two months to raise funds for this competition,  and we thank you for your support. When our students see your contributions it will also be telling them that what they have accomplished within the area of STEM education this year is important.

We really appreciate your assistance and thank you in advance for your consideration in donating and sharing our story!

Be sure to follow our story on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Look for Nate Mack Robotics.
