Leukemia is a hard best friend...
It is one of those friends that stays deep in your bones and tries to corrupt your entire body!
I was officially diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on Friday February 17th. A lot at that moment changed-
At this point I was living in Orlando, Florida with a plan to move to New York with my boyfriend, Henry once I graduated in May. This plan was put on halt when my Oncologist in Florida suggested I begin treatment within the next few weeks.
So I uprooted my life in Florida to move back in with my parents in New Jersey so that I can be treated in a hospital in Philadelphia.
I was attending a doctors appointment everyday between Oncologists, and Fertility Specialists- I was spread very thin.
I had about a week and a half window to attempt to save my fertility. Within two days of flying home I had to decide if I ever wanted children. My agreement of yes set me into a week of treatments, needles and an ending surgery to freeze my eggs.
With the expensive cost of the fertility procedure I then have to pay to have my eggs frozen. This is an expense that most 24 year olds or anyone ever has to think about.
I also need to go through intense chemo treatments. My treatments are called 7 & 3. I am hooked onto a machine seven days a week, 24 hours a day. For three 3 days I receive a push of chemo through my IV line.
After the seven days I will remain in the hospital for about 3-4 more weeks as they try to build back up my blood cells and to make sure I enter remission.
As all of this treatment will be costing me quite a large amount. Being a person who was always careful with saving money and trying to plan for the future- I have already placed most of my savings into the treatment and hospital costs.
I am asking for any sort of help from anyone who can spare anything. I will appreciate anything and use it as assistance to beat this disease.
Because of Natalie being in the hospital, her mom Barbara is the beneficiary of the money collected and has a bank account set up for Natalie..Thanks for all the love and support
