Cultural Immersion Trip to China
Donation protected
Ni Hao! I am beyond ecstatic to announce that this summer I have the opportunity to travel across the world on a cultural immersion trip to China with the Freshman Leadership Academy (FLA).
Currently a freshman honors student studying Political Science and Community Development at the prestigious Howard University, my journey at Howard really started when I began the competitive application process to join Freshman Leadership Academy. FLA consists of a meticulously selected, diverse, and prestigious group of first year college students seeking to affect our school, local, and global communities in a tangible way.
I have worked incredibly hard this year. I currently balance my participation in FLA with working as a Senate intern in the office of the Honorable Bill Nelson (D-FL) and managing a rigorous 18-credit hour class schedule.
I have to admit that at first, I was convinced that raising the funds necessary to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity would be impossible. However, if you told me just two years ago that I would be living in the city of my dreams as an honors student at one of the most influential HBCUs in the country, I would not have believed you. If you had told me just two years ago that out of over 300 applicants, I would be selected to be a part of 54 of Howard’s brightest and most promising dreamers and doers in the sixth class of the Freshman Leadership Academy, I would not have believed you.
This first year of study at Howard University has been one absolutely full of unreal opportunities. So much of this is due to the growth I have undergone as a member of the sixth class of the Freshman Leadership Academy. My dream of a life dedicated to public service grows more concrete every day.
The next step is a cultural immersion trip to China, a life-changing experience that each class of FLA before mine has undergone. I would be incredibly grateful for your support! No donation is too small. Thank you for your time.
