The Nashua Area Radio Society is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating STEM learning opportunities and emergency communications training through Amateur Radio.

We are raising funds to support a variety of STEM learning projects including High-Altitude Balloon projects, electronics learning projects, and license training for High School and Middle School students. We are also raising funds to allow us to purchase and maintain equipment to provide emergency communications and associated training in times of disaster.

We recently held a Summer Technician License class for students, teachers, and their parents at the Hudson Memorial School in Hudson, NH. Our class included many hands-on activities such as Get On The Air and Portable Stations, Fox Hunts, Antenna Building, and Morse Code practice. The class was free to the students and our fund raising efforts allowed us to supply books and other materials for the class. Most of the students who took the class earned their Technician Licenses!

We work very hard to create the best possible learning experience for young people as part of our projets. Here's a photo of the students checking out the radio telemetry from the HAB just before launch. We are using an Amateur Radio GoKit to monitor the APRS transmissions from the ballon at the launch site.

Students from two local schools launched our third High-Altitude Balloon this past weekend. Enjoy the video!

Your support for our fund raising drive allows us to continue to provide these projects which include 14+ hours of STEM classroom instruction free to local schools.

We also have an electronics kit building project that we do with schools. We supply unbuilt radio kits, tools, and training for students in local high-schools so that that can learn about electronics and radio communications by building a kit.

NARS members mentor the students through the process as well as teach them some basic electronics skills and science so they can successfully complete their kits and understand how they work.

We also teach the students how to communicate using their kits and Morse Code and we host a competition among the students with additional kits as prizes for the best student teams. A total of 26 students in two schools were part of our electronics kit building projects this past spring.

Your support for our fundraising project here will enable us to continue and expand this program and to create additional ones like it.
