G'day from The Naked Farmer!
I'm an 5th generation farmer from country Victoria and I want to have a crack at changing the heartbreaking statistic of farmer suicide by raising money for the RFDS Mental Health Unit. In the process I'll also be raising awareness of mental health issues and supporting farmers like me, throughout rural Australia.
Stats show that suicide rates among farmers and those in the agricultural industry almost double that of any other demographic.
I've been touched by mental illness and it wasn't until a real crisis hit, the decimation of our family home by fire in 2015, that really brought me to my knees. This was a turning point in my life and I can safely say I'm on the other side of my issues but I want to encourage others to take control of their lives and use a negative experience for something good.
My mission is to raise money and awareness around mental health issues in the agriculture industry. One of my aims is to gather a collection of photos from game farmers (or those in the industry) who have the guts to get their kit off. It takes as much guts to take your clothes off for a photo as it takes to talk about mental health issues. That’s the connection behind the concept.

My next big gig is a tour of the northern half of Australia in June/July, where I'm going to meet some of my 38k+ followers. Donating to the cause via this platform will see all money raised go directly to the RFDS Mental Health Unit.
My fabulous sponsors will be making sure I'm fuelled up both in food and petrol.
My goal is to raise $5,000 for the charity and see that it helps support the program they have for farmers in crisis, particularly their one on one counselling service which is followed up with Skype sessions....this is the most effective way to support farmers in isolated areas.
