Fleeing Russia: The True Story of My Grandfather and His Heroic Life
Samuel Talski, a Russian-born Jew who grew up in the Ukraine--near Kiev, in a small, poor agricultural village--would survive the first phase of the Russian revolution, but not merely survive. He planned, paid for, and executed the escape of two hundred and fiftyJewish family and friends by the time he was nineteen years old, in order to help them avoid their demise. His heroism did not stop there.
This is perhaps the most important book out of thirty-two that I will ever write. Grandpa was more than a hero to me; he was one of the most loving and giving men I have ever known.
I am compelled to tell this story not only because my admiration runs so deep for grandpa,but because people need to know this story of heroism and giving beyond measure, this story that was Samuel Talski’s life.
The novel starts with twelve people being murdered in a barn. Grandpa made a statement and a promise to twenty-four others, including his bride-to-be that survived the massacre: that he would get them out of the Ukraine and to America. A promise he kept in just two short years. The group actually consisted of two hundred and fifty people, all headed to New York City on a boat together, headed towards freedom and a new community orchestrated my grandfather. Eventually they all lived together in Los Angeles, California.
His life and the way he touched people will amaze and inspire people worldwide.
I have created this Go Fund Me page in hopes of finding supporters to help me write this enormously important book. I need your financial support!
The truth is, this body of mine is not well, and I dearly want to complete this testimony to “Sam’s” life before I go off to greener pastures.
