I have been Mum AND Dad, the sole provider to 3 amazing humans for over 15 years. If I do say so myself, I have done a fabulous job!
As many of you know, I’m about to travel to Scotland to spend some quality time with my family.
At the start of June I dashed to Bangkok following a medical emergency with my beautiful daughter Karen.
She had emergency surgery after getting sick in Asia & ended up with a life threatening blood clot.
Thankfully, she is recovering well.
She & her partner Kevin are going to continue their 12 month trip away from Australia encompassing many countries in Asia & then Europe.
She has received medical clearance to continue the trip.
However, their GLOBAL ALLIANCE unlimited cover insurance policy/claim has been voided/refused.
Pre-purchase, they researched the cover, phoned to clarify understanding & carefully checked over their "multi trip'' online purchase during the 14 day "cooling off" Their Insurance Certificate confirms cover April 2018 to April 2019. Global Alliances' covering letter says "enjoy your TRIP"
They listed all the countries they are visiting on their application. Their understanding of "multi trip" was that they couldn't stay in any 1 country for longer than 30 days & their trip has been carefully planned out accordingly.
To our horror, it has been revealed that the policy wording in fact states that they are required to RETURN TO AUSTRALIA EVERY 30 DAYS - so 12 returns during the year long trip??
In my opinion, a totally irresponsible sale by Global Alliance & very unclear policy wording….
Thank goodness I have a credit card & a business over-draught.....

medical expenses ($10,000 +)
Flights & accommodation cancellation fees incurred by them
Fresh current insurance cover for them
Travel & accommodation to be by her side
& more.
I have always prided myself in being financially responsible & independent.
I’m reaching out for help as my pot to cover personal & business expenses before, during & after Scotland is gone & my credit card debt is overwhelming - Thanks to the generosity of a dear friend my debt is not as huge as it would otherwise be.
Karen & Kev have saved hard & Karen even worked 2 jobs to save the funds to go on this world trip. They have lost much of their hard earned savings covering accomodations in Bangkok & re-scheduling flights etc
If everyone reading this could consider making a donation I would be very grateful.
Even $5 will make a difference & help me through this unforeseen calamity.
How many of us have children, parents, friends & loved ones who travel & have the potential of discovering that their Insurance cover is NOT what they thought?
