Apuntando a un futuro más brillante

My name is Anna and I'm Polish, but since 3 years living in Barcelona, Spain. In October I volunteered in the shelter Nueva Vida in Merida, Mexico where I was volunteering and teaching English to the group of lovely girls. After coming back to Spain I decided to collect money for the shelter so that they can hire a long-term English teacher for the girls. The campaign will finish at the end of the year and all the money donated  will be withdrawn by me and transferred directly to Nueva Vida account. From that point the management of the shelter will use all the donations to hire an English teacher and pay his/her salary.

Aiming for a brighter future

Nueva Vida (new life) is the after school enrichment program that serves twenty-five girls from six to twelve years old. The purpose of it is to provide for them a safe, healthy and caring environment, excellent academic support and positive community values.

This fall I had the chance to meet these brave and incredible little ladies, who completely changed my way of seeing world. This experience was much more than I could have ever expected. They welcomed me with open arms, always expecting a hug, always asking me to play with them, always ready to learn new things. And between the hugs, kisses, laughs, runs in the backyard or even just while having their hair brushed after showering, they shared with me their sad stories, bringing tears to my eyes and leaving me speechless.

These kids are eager to learn, but their learning can be hindered by a lack of funds. Since this is not a governmental organization, Nueva Vida can't afford to hire a regular, long-term English teacher.

Nueva Vida es un programa de enriquecimiento extraescolar del que se benefician 25 niñas de entre 6 y 12 años. Es un complemento imprescindible donde a través de un ambiente seguro, protector y compasivo, se facilita el desarollo personal y académico de estas niñas.

Este otoño he tenido la oportunidad de conocer a estas niñas pequeñas e increibles. Ellas han cambiado mi manera de ver el mundo para siempre. Esta experiencia me dio más de lo que esperaba. Las niñas me acogieron calurosamente desde el primer día, con los brazos abiertos, siempre listas para abrazarme, animarme a jugar y dispuestas a aprender cosas nuevas. Entre abrazos, besos, risas, al dar miles vueltas en patio o cuando cepillaba su pelo después de la ducha, compartían conmigo sus tristes historias. Esto hacía que se me saltaran las lágrimas y me dejaban sin palabras.

Nueva Vida, organización no gubernamental, no cuenta con los recursos económicos necesarios para contratar a una persona que de continuidad y estabilidad a esta labor.

Mierzymy w świetlaną przyszłość

Nueva Vida (nowe życie) jest świetlicą pozaszkolną oferującą wzbogacony program zajęć dla 25 dziewczynek między szóstym a dwunastym rokiem życia. Koncepcją tej placówki jest zapewnienie uczennicom bezpiecznego, zdrowego i opiekuńczego środowiska, doskonałego wsparcia naukowego i nauki pozytywnych wartości społecznych.

Tej jesieni miałam przyjemność poznać te dzielne, niesamowite małe damy, które kompletnie zmieniły mój sposób postrzegania świata. To doświadczenie szybko stało się czymś znacznie ważniejszym niż mogłabym się spodziewać. Dziewczynki przywitały mnie z otwartymi ramionami, zawsze gotowe do uścisków, ciągle zapraszając mnie do udziału w zabawach, zawsze gotowe żeby nauczyć się czegoś nowego. I tak, pomiędzy uściskami, buziakami, śmiechem, bieganiem na podwórku, lub nawet podczas czesania włosów po kąpieli, dzieliły się ze mną swoimi smutnymi przeżyciami, które zawsze odbierały mi mowę i pozostawiały ze łzami w oczach. 

Te dzieci są spragnione wiedzy, ale jej zdobywanie utrudnia brak pieniędzy. Ponieważ nie jest to organizacja państwowa, Nueva Vida nie może pozwolić sobie na zatrudnienie stałego nauczyciela języka angielskiego. 

Każda pomoc jest bardzo mile widziana. Bardzo dziękuję za wsparcie!
