Cancer Fund for Bama (AKA Buddy)

Donation protected
Hi everybody. My dog, Bama (AKA "Buddy") has been my best friend for the last 7 years. If you've met him, you'll know that he's one of the sweetest and loving souls to walk the Earth.
Buddy's a lot of things to a lot of people.
To my friends he's the lovable loaf who will snuggle up at your feet or follow you around until you give him some of whatever you're eating :-)
To my co-workers he's the smiley little guy that sits in on meetings, or stops by on a day off to hang out and enjoy the attention and kisses.
To the online community he's the beautiful Cavalier King Charles posing all around the city. He's been the star of facebook feeds appearing in fun movies and adorable photos... you may have even "like"d a few yourself.
To me he is everything... He is my soul... He is my heart... and I have been entrusted with making his time in this world the best it can be. That was the responsibilty I accepted when I brought him home as a puppy 7 years ago. Unfortunately, I can no longer provide that quality of life on my own... So here we are.

In the last several weeks Bama has lost nearly a third of his weight, in the last several days has stopped eating, in the last several hours began to deteriorate before my eyes... growing slower... older... closer to the end. A few weeks ago he was a healthy & happy dog... and then in an instant, he wasn't.

So Buddy's got lymphoma. If you aren't familiar (and I wasn't until the weekend), lymphoma is a fatal cancer that begins in the lymph nodes and moves from there. If left untreated, the cancer would continue consuming his body and within a month or so he would be gone. If treated, he could potentially resume his healthy condition for six months to a year or in rare cases much further beyond that estimate before the cancer returns... which is sadly a common result.

I am NOT going to lose my best friend without a fight! It is my job in this world to fight for him. To care for him. To get him through this.

There are several options of chemotherapy for dogs with lymphoma... unfortunately the most effective process would cost up to $17,000. If money were no object this would be it, however that is not the case.
I have selected a less intense regimen and set of drugs that will treat him with chemotherapy every 3 weeks for the next six months. His oncologist feels strongly that if it works, Buddy will return to his normal weight, the swelling in his glands will subside, and he will go back to being a normal, happy and healthy dog for the duration of the treatment. Once the treatment is complete he may remain in remission... there is no saying for how long.

Estimated cost for all treament, medication, and exams is $6,000 to $7,000.

I have never asked anybody for a thing in my life. I don't expect anything from this. It's a shot in the dark to help keep my joy and light shining in this world. I am prepared to spend a lot of money over the next several years to pay for this... credit cards... loans...

I am opening this fund for my boy. We're going to fight for his life. If you can, please help join that fight.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
