In Canada, 1 in 6 couples will experience infertility. It's hard to admit that we fall into this category. 3 years ago we started trying to become parents, and if you or anyone you know has had trouble conceiving, you'll know how emotionally draining that can be.

About a year and a half ago we reached out to our Doctors and were referred to the Regional Fertility Clinic in Calgary. So we started down the road of tests, more tests, and the long waits to get in. About 6 months ago we were told that while he couldn't say there was "no" chance, our chances of conceiving naturally were unbelievably low. This is a very hard pill to swallow. For us there were two things we could do, IUI or IVF, our chances for IUI were about 3%, IVF around 65%. However IUI was remarkably less expensive and much less invasive so we decided to try our luck. Starting in January, we started our first round of IUI, and then in February did a second, and March was the third. Sadly, no baby. 

IVF was always a scary hurdle we didn't know how to face, emotionally but also financially.  The past year and a bit included unemployment, schooling, starting a new business (if you have ever done this you know how lean those first years can be) as well as several other big expenses we just didn't see coming. Our pride was wounded because we have tried very hard to be diligent with our finances but sometimes life hits you heavy.

So here we are.

In Alberta IVF is not covered by healthcare, as well as most insurance companies won't cover the medication (ours included). So couples are left to accept the formidable cost on their own. If you would like to help change that, please sign this petition. http://www.gensofhope.com/

We are are planning on undertaking IVF this summer if everything works out, because Mya is off work for the summer and it is a very time consuming project.

Now the ask.. we have been very blessed by a few individuals who have already donated, but we are still short of the goal, we need to come up with roughly a 1/3 of the remaining cost.

We struggle with asking but the goal of Team Baby is bigger then our pride. So if you feel like you would be willing to help us grow our family we would be so grateful and feel so blessed. If you are not able to donate money, then honestly just pray for us, as we firmly believe in the power of prayer.
