Mi chiamo Caterina Di Perri , fotografo da quando ero una bambina e anche se non sono mai andata a scuola di fotografia negli anni ho sviluppato la mia tecnica ed il mio linguaggio. Per me la fotografia è il mio sesto senso, sensazioni che si traducono in immagini e viceversa. E' il mio modo di guardare il mondo e le cose, le persone, la natura...insomma tutto quello che mi emoziona.

Novembre è cominciato male per me. Giovedì 1° sull’Eurostar 16 da Milano a Lugano qualcuno mi ha rubato lo zaino con TUTTA l’attrezzatura fotografica ( 2 macchine 5 obiettivi svariate schede di memoria, 2 batteria aggiuntive, 2 filtri ND, rig (nuovo) per fotocamere ... non ho più nulla tranne un obiettivo che avevo lasciato a casa. Chi ha avuto questa esperienza conosce lo stato d’animo, orribile, scioccante, gli altri possono immaginare, non posso più fare foto, non ho assolutamente possibilità di ricomprarmi nulla in questo momento. Ci ho messo 4 anni per metter su l’attrezzatura che uno sconosciuto ha afferrato velocissimo dall’alloggiamento sopra di me....sono devastata. Per questo vi chiedo un aiuto per potermi rialzare, purtroppo il costo dell’attrezzatura non è poca cosa, il costo di una macchina con le ottiche che mi servono può superare i 7/8000 euro, qualsiasi tipo d’aiuto è il benvenuto. Cercherò un buon usato soprattutto per le ottiche che altrimenti hanno prezzi proibitivi.
Il mondo a volte pare proprio un brutto posto ma dentro di me so che non è così ed era quello che cercavo di esprimere con le mie foto…spero di riuscire a farlo ancora !

I have been taking photos since I was a little girl and, even though I've never studied photography formally, during the years I have developed my own technique and style. I think of photography as my sixth sense, translating feelings into images and vice versa. It's my way to see the world, things, people, nature... everything which touches or moves me.

November didn’t start well for me. Thursday the 1st, on a train from Milan to Lugano (Switzerland), somebody stole my backpack with ALL my photo gear: 2 cameras, 5 lenses, many SD memory cards, 2 batteries, 2 ND filters, 1 shoulder rig (new) for cameras…I have nothing left but one lens which I didn’t bring with me. Anyone who has been through this experience knows the feeling, it’s awful, shocking, hard to imagine the devastation…. I can’t shoot anymore, I can't afford to buy anything in this moment and very likely for many months to come. It took me at least 4 years to buy all the gear that a tall stranger snatched from the luggage rack above me…I’m crushed.
I see no other solution than asking for help to start over. Unfortunately the price for the gear that I've lost is high, at least 7-8000 euros. Any kind of help is very welcome. I will look for some good used lenses because new lenses can be awfully expensive.
The world can sometimes seem like a really ugly place, but I know that there is a bright side to everything and this is what I was trying to express with my photography. I hope to be able to start again soon!
