My money was stolen. Please help.

I know. I shouldn’t have had that much money on me—I was so excited about using an envelope method for paying bills, and I let my excitement and pride in my self-restraint cloud my vigilance.

I was at the store looking to buy a long sleeved shirt—because I have one, and realized I was NOT ready to deal with winter, emotionally or wardrobe wise. I went to try on the shirt, and then looked at the price, it was totally in my budget, but I wanted to ensure I really looked at the funds before I committed, to make sure I was making a good choice, and to know what I would have left—I was also planning on buying Liam winter boots, and for some reason, little kid boots are freakishly overpriced.

The envelopes were gone. For Food, Gas, Medication, Phone, Internet, Diapers, Clothing, and a portion of next months rent. All of it. Gone. I immediately thought I had dropped them, so I retraced my steps, every employee was helping me look. It was a little second hand shop, so it was very small, (and they have hella cheap clothes, don’t judge) and the ladies literally checked between each hanger, on the floor, on shelves, etc., and.....gone. One employee mentioned the only other woman in the store only looked at one rack (the one I was at) and suddenly bent over sneezing when the employee approached her, said the store was too dusty, and left abruptly.

They’re checking their cameras, and yes, I am filing a police report.

Going shopping for me is rare as it is, but I was double lucky in that Liam’s Dad was watching him, so I got to have a blessed shopping trip alone. My goal was to run errands and get everything paid, so the money wasn’t burning a hole in my pocket, and then spend the rest of my week at home, away from cold air that hurts my face, playing Hungry Hippos with Liam until I developed carpal tunnel.

But cash is pretty impossible to recover when stolen (I am seriously wincing at this, there as so many things I wish I had done differently) and to be honest, I just don’t know how I’m gonna recover it in time to make bills. I’m definitely gonna call and make arrangements to buy some time, but...

If you can, and if you’d like, your help would be beyond appreciated. Truly.

And if not, I totally understand. I was pretty dumb, carrying around that much cheddar without being more careful, and I’ve definitely reconsidered my methods.
