My little God Child Leila & Family
As most of you all know, this little angel - Leila and her amazing parents Tiffany and Tyson Dominey with younger sister Lucy from Burgeo, NL, had recieved news that no one would want to recieve. Leila's family doctor found a heart murmor a while back during a routine checkup. After some testing, it appears that she has a narrowing in her main aortic valve going to her heart and one of the flaps on her aorta is fused together. They will need to go to Toronto for her to have surgery on her heart. Depending on how long the narrowing is, they may be able to go through her main artery in her hip and go up through her heart. If it is longer, they will have to do a more invasive surgery going in through her back. They arrived in Toronto with their immediate family a few days ago to submit Leila at the Sick Kids Hospital. Yesterday she had her pre ops done and today she went in for her procedure. Unfortunately the procedure did not go as planned. Her Stenosis was too tight and had another nodule on it which prevented them from being able to dilate her aorta. She also has another valve that is too skinny and a Bicuspid valve that will have to be checked at a later date. Tiffany and Tyson are pretty shocked and gut-wrenched right now. It is a hard one to swallow. As far as they know, she will be going in for open heart surgery on next monday morning. They are going in through her back which will be a lot easier on her and her recovery which will be about 12 weeks. They are trying very hard to stay positive. Tiffany,Tyson and family are currently settled in at the Ronald McDonald House where they initally only planned for a couple of days. With the recent bad news, their stay will be extended for another couple of weeks by the time Leila is released from the hospital. They are unsure what to do, where they are gonna be staying for the duration. I can't imagine what they can be going through. We all know that Leila is a trooper and her mother Tiffany is the strongest and most caring person you can ever meet. Tyson is also an amazing person and Dad. These are the type of people that would take the shirt of their back and do anything to help anyone in need. That being said, lets show how much we care for them and help them through this very hard time. Costs like Hotels, meals, transportation, flights, etc and missing work for them and their immediate family isnt gonna be cheap and would be a struggle for any family to go through.
