Hello Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Interested Parties,
My name is Dawn Grabowski. "I'm A Sitdown Comic Because I'm Not Qualified to Stand". I am a Comic With a Disability I have Cerebral Palsy C.P. I am raising money to pay for the expenses to attend The Satellite (s) competition for The World Series of Comedy. I have been actively pursuing Sit-Down Comedy for over 2 1/2 years. I am raising money to pay for the expenses to attend the Satellite(s) competition for The World Series Comedy. The most immediate goal is to pay for traveling to for the upcoming Satellite competition. These expenses will include, but not limited to: plane reservations, hotel reservations, wheelchair rentals, food, fees and tickets for Festivals associated with competition. Any additional funds that are raised will be go towards editing my comedy Reel.
All funds from this point forward will go towards the other Comedy Satellites,(Listed Below) and World Series of Comedy Finals (September 2017).
Of course whenever you want to donate-it would be most appreciated.
I have worked in the entertainment industry creating my own projects for many years. I have a one-woman play, entitled "Always Going up", a 35mm short "Shattering Images", and a full-length Feature "Dangerous Perceptions". Being Creative and working in the Entertainment Industry is in my blood. It's the only thing I have ever wanted to do with my life. I want my Art, and Life to matter.
There are Comedy satellites throughout the year, and the more satellites you attend the better you do for your Overall score. My score will improve throughout the year by attending, competing, and working on my Comedy. The other Satellites I have applied for Denver CO, and Sarasota, Florida.
The ultimate goal is to make the top 101 Finals for The World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Nevada September 2017. The competition takes a week. It is around Robin competition until a winner is chosen. By competing in this competition, I hope to give my Sit-Down comedy career the necessary exposure it needs to get more paid work as a Comic and Actor.
On Saturday, March 18, 2017 I taped my 55 minutes Set, and 2 five minutes Sets. Those materials are in the process of being edited.
It is very difficult to find a steady income since I have physical disability, at least that has been my experience (despite being college educated, and creative). Before the Economic Recession I was a Independent Contractor- Disability advocate. That job is no longer available because of budget cuts. Many of the Non-Profits I used to work for in the past no longer exist, or are on a very shoe string budget, and are barely surviving.
I am asking you all to consider Gifting me funds to continue to pursuing my Comedy Dream(s). Of course, positive vibes and wonderful thoughts are, also, welcome. That being said, the gift of money is the more pressing need to be able to pursue these competitions making my dreams come true. If I haven't let my Disability Stop me I'm not going to let money stop me. All funds given are termed a gift- thank you for understanding.
