A New Laptop For My Daughter’s 21st


Will you contribute $21 for the purchase of an Apple Gift Card to present to Alanah on her birthday?

My only daughter will be 21 years young on December 4th, 2018. I want to gift her a new MacBook Pro for her birthday and I need help
making this happen.  

While most kids might be celebrating by having their first legal alcoholic drink, Alanah is coming to have some one-on-one time with her Mom (me) for her birthday so we can soul search about this very impactful next phase of her life.  

Alanah is pregnant and is due to give birth on January 31, 2019, to a baby girl who will also be my first Grandaughter.

I raised my daughter to be self-sufficient as I was a single Mom.  I was self-employed as a Soul Coach helping people improve their lives and have used my phone and computer daily to keep my business sustainable.

My entrepreneurial lifestyle gave me a chance as a single mom to be there every day for my daughter to take her to school and to pick her up.

I did not have an extravagant life but made enough to help us have a healthy environment and quality of life. I attribute this caring and attentive upbringing I provided as one of the reasons we have such a close relationship. 

When Alanah left home two years ago she was a 4.0 student with honors and completed her GED with honors.

Alanah moved into a small trailer at her father's place in Santa Rosa. CA and picked up various jobs.

She is a hard worker and found her first job at a juice shack and then earned her way to a waitress job which she has been at ever since.

She saved her money and moved out of the trailer and was providing for herself got her first rental and was so proud of how she was taking care of her bills and living arrangement. 

Her dreams of becoming successful were growing as she earned a junior and then manager title at the boutique Italian pizzeria.  

This year Alanah met a boy she really liked. It was new and not serious. He was 22 and she was 20. Not long into the relationship, she found out she was pregnant.

To her credit, Alanah chose to not terminate the pregnancy. She braved herself and said, “ I am doing this.” Her daughter will be named, Eliana. 

Life has changed rapidly. Alanah is running the small restaurant she works, picking up as many shifts as she can. She is taking responsibility for all her wellness appointments with Medical and paying all her bills. She does not party or live haphazardly. 

Though she is saving what she can, I know what is up ahead for her more than she knows. The cost of raising a child, let alone a newborn, when you cannot work as a waitress for the first bit, means a major struggle to keep it all going.

I started this Go Fund Me page because I would like to gift my daughter for her 21st birthday a new MacBook laptop, so she can make money and continue her education online while being present and available for her infant daughter with the message that it “takes a village to raise a child.”

I know how invaluable it is to experience the benefit of community support, both given and received and how this gift will help her to have that bond with her child, right out of the gate. 

It is this that has me reaching out for her. She is not ready for all of this mentally or financially. And, she is my daughter. I love her and want to support her. She is coming here and I want to give her a special birthday.

How lovely would it be to give my daughter a gift that keeps giving - a laptop that works - and the means to care for her daughter by creating a livelihood online?

How special would it be that she could take her time to study for her Real Estate license or her Wedding Planner career, both of which she had considered pre-pregnancy?! 

I love my daughter with all my heart. She is bright, beautiful, caring, intuitive, intelligent, responsible and self-sufficient. She pays her bills on time and has been mindfully building her credit. And, she has no idea the financial and time demands that come with a new little one. That is why I am asking "the village" for help. If you know her, you know how hard a worker she is and that she will appreciate this gift so much.

I know there are so many needs on GoFundMe and families needing way more than we are so I know this has to be a “God” thing - that this somehow speaks to you to help in whatever way you can.

A gift of $21 or more ( a dollar for every year of Alanah’s life) would be so helpful. I thank you and bless you from the depths of my being ahead of time.
