Steven Delgado

I write this with a heavy heart. My name is Carolyn, I have a son name Steven who really needs our help right now. On Saturday, February 10th, my son Steven was visiting his girlfriend. He left her home at 2AM, while he was walking to his car he got shot. They called us at 5AM asking us to come in and say our good byes. Their are no words to describe what I felt at that moment. By the grace of God at around noon the doctor's told us " this kid is a fighter, he really wants to live".  It was a drive-by shooting, one shot, that's all it took to put my Steven in ICU fighting for his life. He has had 3 surgeries so far. The doctors had to remove his entire small intestine, half of his pancreas and his gallbladder. His liver is damaged. Right now he has tubes and bags coming out of his side and stomach trying to do the work that his absent organs should be doing. This has been the longest week of our lives. He has been put on a waiting list for a liver, pancreas and small intestine. He opened his eyes last night. I felt like it was the day he was born and you hear that first cry. My heart was overjoyed with excitement. He can not breathe on his own. He's in horrific pain but he's alive. This GoFundMe page is to help with Medical cost that will be out of pocket. Also, Steven has 3 children and a girlfriend that will need to be relocated. She's afraid to go home and the kids need to get away from that area. My husband will be supporting his family and Steve's family for the time being. I know he will never complain about taking care of all of us. But I will like to take some burden off of him. He has the biggest, unselfish heart I have ever known. I know we all have a long journey ahead but I will like to get things situated before our Steven is home with us, God willing.
