My Best Friend's Mom

I want to start by saying thank you to anyone who is taking the time to read this.
My name is Heather and I created this fundraiser for my best friend of 12 years. His name is Kelly and he will be saying goodbye to his mom very soon.
About a month and a half ago, his mom got sick. She went to a couple different hospitals, who gave her antibiotics and not very many answers. She was sent home with medicine. A couple weeks later, she took a turn for the worse and couldn't walk anymore. She went back to the hospital, where it was discovered she had a skin infection. She was put on more IV antibiotics and more tests were run to see what else might be wrong. A few days later, Kelly got the call that his mom was in end-stage heart failure and was given 3 months at most. He was told she wouldn't be leaving the hospital and she was moved to the ICU for palliative care. They were exploring options to see if she could withstand a surgery to repair any deficiencies. Unfortunately, she took another turn for the worse and the doctors said they don't think she'll make it past the next few weeks. As a result, they decided to stop treatment and try to make her as comfortable as possible.
During this entire process, Kelly has missed over a week of work and will probably have to miss more. FMLA is not an option right now. ADA doesn't apply in this situation. Thankfully, his job is understanding and he isn't at risk of losing it yet, but he also doesn't have any resources to help with lost wages. And to top it all off, he is the only person in his family who is capable and willing to handle any after-life care and expenses. I am hoping to raise enough money that he won't need to worry about lost wages and he will be able to lay his mom to rest the way she would like.
