Salupongan International | Mga Mayari

In Filipino mythology, Mayari is the goddess of revolution, strength, and beauty. Mga Mayari is a group of Filipina women who stand in solidarity with marginalized communities in the U.S. and Philippines who identify as Pilipino and Pilipino-American. We aim to spark positive change for these communities by advocating for those who don’t have the privilege or space. As a small group of women from University of California Davis, we are bound by the common goal of striving to do everything in our power to give voices to silenced communities and be proactive in their aid. In doing so, Mga Mayari aim to embody the character and spirit of Mayari to establish a more righteous future. 

Currently, indigenous children in more rural regions of the Philippines lack access to basic educational services. They have dreams of obtaining higher education to better their futures and the lives of generations to come. However, these aspirations are suppressed by the fact that the government is preventing the establishment of necessary learning facilities. 

Salupongan International serves to provide indigenous children with access to the educations they desire and deserve. By teaming up with Salupongan, Mga Mayari aim to not only raise awareness, but take action in supporting this cause. If we may, we kindly ask for a monetary donation if at all possible. Any amount will suffice in helping us achieve our goal of solidifying better opportunities for the education of the dismissed children.
