Murals @ Rochelle Middle

Help us brighten the walls of Rochelle Middle School's new 6th Grade Academy with original murals by local artists!

Rochelle Middle School, located in Kinston, NC, is creating a new 6th Grade Academy to enhance the learning and services it provides to our community's most precious resource -- our youth! We are excited about this initiative and the leadership of Principal Felicia Solomon. 

The classroom space that will nurture these 6th graders, however, could use a lot of love. It hasn't been occupied in a while and it is devoid of any color or inspiration. Luckily, local artists are up to the challenge and are willing to lend their talents to make the new 6th Grade Academy a beautiful space that will enhance the education of these young minds.  


The mural in the photos shown here the result of another smART Kinton-Rochelle partnership - a mural project that occurred this past spring - and are an example of how arts can enhance a place of learning. The new murals won't look exactly like these, but we can expect something equally beautiful and transformative!


We are seeking community support to help fund the murals for the 6th Grade Academy and will use your tax-deductible donation to buy paint and supplies. If we are successful in meeting our fundraising goal, a matching grant will help provide modest compensation to local artists for their creativity and precious time.
