SUPPORT KERALA FLOOD VICTIMS

Many of you may have seen this on the news. Kerala, my home state, has been hit by devastating floods and landslides in the last couple of weeks due to excessive rainfall this monsoon season. Over 200,000 people have lost their homes and 324 people have died – many are still unaccounted for. Thousands are still waiting to be rescued. In the span of days, people have lost their loved ones, their homes and their belongings. Their only possessions are the clothes on their backs.

Rail services have been disrupted, the main airport has been closed and highways connecting different districts are completed flooded. I’m currently in Kerala with my family, helping out in relief camps. Volunteers all over the state are tirelessly collecting food, clothing and basic necessities for people who’ve lost their homes, and are working to temporarily accommodate them.

But this isn’t enough. We need more funds to continue providing supplies and help. Many of you may find it difficult to send money directly to their Chief Minister’s Relief Fund from outside of India, which is why I have started a GoFundMe page to support relief efforts for those who have been affected by the floods.
