Ms. Perkins' Classroom Remodel
Donation protected
Hello! I am a high school AP Psychology and US History teacher in the Bay Area. I am also a social and emotional learning mentor for Freshman, with a huge vision to create a space that inspires learning, wonder, joy, and community.
Please help me bring my classroom redesign to life! I’ve decided to remodel my classroom for a number of reasons, including:
- To better support students with diverse learning needs
- To provide a comfortable, safe space for all students that supports mental health by using environmental elements (supported by research)
My students have been integral to the redesign process. Throughout the first semester, I’ve worked with my SELF (Social-Emotional Learning Foundations) class to research, create and design a collection of floor plan “prototypes” that would meet student needs. I then shared these plans with the rest of my classes for their input and included them in the finalization process.
Since collectively settling on a floor plan, my SELF class has been hard at work researching furniture/storage needs, measuring the the room, budgeting, and learning about the real costs and efforts of a room redesign.
We now need help bringing the vision to life! If you are willing and able to donate any amount, we could really use it, as the public school budget is limited in this capacity.
Your donation will go towards necessary items such as:
- Flexible classroom seating (floor seating, standing desks)
- Storage, book shelves, classroom supplies
- New paint for walls
- Academic and SEL-based posters and classroom decor
- Non fluorescent lighting
Thank you! My students and I are looking forward to seeing our collective vision become a reality.
