I have always had the mentality that if you want something of monetary value bad enough, you will work hard, make sacrifices, and do whatever it takes to achieve your tangible bliss. This is why I have been skeptical to create one of these pages to help fund my future classroom. I am not one who likes to ask for financial help, but once I started calculating how much it is going to cost to create the enriching learning environment my future students deserve I became quickly discouraged.
I want to create a classroom environment in which my students wake up excited to step foot in a space that promotes effective learning. I want my students to have access to a classroom library with books targeted for all different reading levels. I want my students to have access to different seating options because research shows most students don’t reach their optimal learning potential sitting at a desk. I want my students to have access to different art materials so they can show their learning in ways other than a paper pencil test. I want the décor in my classroom to be warm, inviting, and interactive to inspire my students to keep crushing their learning goals. ALL students deserve to be excited about learning, and it is our job as teachers to light the fire.
I have a made a list of different items that I am going to need to accumulate to create my dream classroom, and let’s just say a bartender’s salary will only make a small dent. I have been scouring craigslist, garage sales, donors choose, and a variety of other platforms to start collecting for my and my students’ future. I decided to open another platform to family, friends, or anyone else that might be interested in donating. If you don't feel comfortable donating money, I understand because I don’t feel comfortable asking for it! However, money donated would not only be an incredible gift to me, but also a selfless investment in future generations. I would also appreciate any kind or encouraging words in the comments below just as much. Thank you for taking the time to listen. #WeLoveTeachers
