Ms. G's Water for Southern Sudan

Donation protected
My  fourth grade class in Maynard is hoping to raise $5000 to help build a well in Southern Sudan.  We have been inspired for this project while reading the book, A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park.   It is the heartbreaking true story of a boy and girl living in Southern Sudan, and the daily struggle they have to find clean water to drink.
At the conclusion of the story, we researched the main character, Salva, and discovered that he had started a non-profit organization called Water for Sudan.  We further discovered how many people are without clean water, and were truly moved and inspired to do what we could to raise money for this worthy cause.
Why $5000?  Because this will be the cost to have a well in Southern Sudan dedicated to the children in the fourth grade at Fowler School in Maynard.
It is my sincerest hope that the children in my class understand their role as global citizens, and it couldn't get more grass roots or heartfelt than a group of ten year old students wanting to raise money to make a difference in the world.  They have moved me beyond words, so I am honored to give my best effort to help them reach their goal.
For more information on the non-profit organization, Water for Southern Sudan, please visit the following link.  All of the proceeds from this effort will go directly to this cause, regardless of whether we meet our goal, and I believe that your donation would be tax deductible.
