MI RootsWear Needs a New Trailer!

Hello friends, fans, and supporters.  Late last Friday night, the MI RootsWear Jeep and trailer were both totaled while parked by an uninsured driver, while we were loading out of an event in Flint.


Due to Michigan's no-fault insurance laws, we should be able to make a claim for all the damages through the other party's insurance... but they don't have coverage.   We've learned in the past week that after having our previous Jeep stolen just last October, our own insurance is only going to pay out about 60% of the value of the Jeep + trailer.


This also doesn't include all the other costs we've incurred as a result of this accident, including damage to our merchandise and equipment, cleanup costs, rental vehicles, etc.  At this point we're looking at over $5000 of uncovered expenses.


As many of you know, the MI RootsWear Roadshow (our traveling setup) is the life blood of our business.  We wouldn't be where we are today if we hadn't spent the last 2 1/2 years traveling all over this great state, bringing Michigan pride to everyone we meet.  Unfortunately, due to this devastating recent loss, our future is in jeopardy.

We've worked hard over the last few years to create a Michigan brand that everyone can be proud of, and we couldn't have done it without your support.  But now, we need your help more than ever.

We're asking for friends, family, and fans alike to come together to help us to get a new vehicle and trailer, so we can get back on the road in time for our crucial, fast-approaching summer season.  There are so many great festivals and events coming up that we'd hate to have to miss, and with your help we can get there!

While we're very gratefeul if you simply want to donate, many of our reward levels are for MRW merch at or below regular price, so you can get a great deal on some new gear, and help us out at the same time!

FAQ:

Q: Don't you have insurance?  Why aren't they covering it?

A: Yes we do, but they're not paying out anywhere close to what we need to get back on our feet. It's very disappointing, and we'll be looking for a new carrier, but that doesn't help now.

Q: Can't you sue the other party?

A: Yes, we can, however any legal proceedings will be long and costly and will take months - or more likely, years - to resolve.  Unfortunately we're not big enough to absorb the costs in the meantime, and can't afford to wait for that resolution.

Q: Could you rent a trailer?

A: Yes, and we're already going to have to do that for our next couple events, but it's obviously not economically viable to do long-term.
