Minneapolis Roosevelt Debate Team

We are a group of young, passionate debaters at a small, urban school in South Minneapolis. We have been working for five years to build up a solid and competitive team. Our accomplishments include sending debaters to state and national competitions, winning JV city championships, and having several awards on a tournament-by-tournament basis. Over these next few years, we want to have traveled to national tournaments across the country, including Iowa, Illinois, Texas and possibly California. Our team focuses on creating a safe and welcoming community to all, supporting young debaters, and making debate accessible to all. Since our school is an inner city school of predominantly low-income students of color we have struggled over these past years with access to resources and travelling funds, but this year we are working hard to do fundraising projects and earn our way to national level tournaments.
