College Grad Relocating to Indonesia

$1,608 of $2,500 goal

Raised by 38 people in 60 months

Hi everyone!

My name is Batara or as my family and friends know me as Obat. I'm a recent grad from Berkeley and am trying to continue my career, or as I call it an adventure, in Indonesia. Please watch my video!

I just finished my research assistantship on a project focusing in Indonesia and I believe it's time to take the leap of faith in moving abroad. My hope is to gain firsthand insight on the way of life and social, political and economic issues happening in the country that I can't get here living in the States. As a graduate from the International Area Studies Department, it is crucial for me to actually have the opportunity to practice the knowledge I've gained in the classroom.

So, with your help, I'd be able to cover my relocation expenses and sustain myself for a couple of months while I search for opportunities. Additionally, by donating, you are investing in an ambitious individual who wants to use the knowledge and experience attained in Indonesia to get into a solid Master's or PhD program. Moreover, once I finish, my hope is to dedicate my heart towards a career in helping communities in Indonesia address poverty and food issues. With a bit of luck maybe even try out a teaching post at an Indonesian university to pass down what I've learned over the years for the next generation to have.

Thank you so much for checking my page out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should you donate, I will send you a personalized 'Thank You' letter and if there are enough funds, I will try to figure out how to get some Indonesian textiles known as 'Batik' to you.

Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

With warmest hugs,
Batara/Obat

Hope you have your opportunity fulfilled to go & build & share what you've been sharing here with other places (same ocean). ((In case you're curious about the number...In Judaism words correlate with numbers (think the movie, Pi). Chai means life, whose letters in Hebrew add up to 18.)))
