Mothers Out Front JP Supports Youth On Board

The UN's October Climate Change report was a wake-up call for urgent and unprecedented changes to our fossil fuel use in the next 12 years. Mothers Out Front is thankful for the powerful and effective leadership of Youth on Board’s Boston Student Advisory Council (BSAC) to make these doable and urgent changes right here in Boston. These high school activists know they will live their whole lives under the path we are setting now. Even as they head to college (and many of them are the first in their families to do so) their activism continues. Let's support their college journey and continued leadership on the climate crisis.
From now until July 15th, Mothers Out Front Jamaica Plain is raising money for BSAC alumni to purchase books and supplies for college. We've all heard about how expensive college has become - this is a small but meaningful way to support their continued climate leadership and education. We have just a few weeks to raise $4500. Mariella Puerto has kicked off this effort with a $400 donation that was triple matched by her employer. That means $1,600 is already committed! Help us bring in the next $2,900.
These young Boston residents were at the center of clean energy victories in Boston like the adoption of Community Choice Energy, free MBTA passes for youth, the City Council’s Green New Deal resolution, being part of the City’s Zero Waste committee and serving as the only youth members advising Boston Climate Action Plan. Their biggest accomplishment, however, was transforming the culture of Massachusetts clean energy and climate change efforts to take seriously the voice and leadership of young people. And the graduating seniors aren't stopping now.
