Mother/Daughter Medical Missions

For several years, we've felt the call of missions, particularly for me medical missions, placed on our hearts. The seed was planted when missionaries our then-home church was supporting came to speak from the Zimba Missions Hospital in Zambia, South Africa.
I can only describe the feeling as an overwhelming squeeze of my heart to be open to go where the Lord made a way. My nursing abilities would be used to share the love of Christ not only in America, but abroad. I didn't know when, where, or how, but it was a calling placed on my heart that day, and has been a topic of prayer and family discussion, since.
Now the opportunity has arrived for me and my youngest daughter Sophia to be able to go on a medical missions trip- Together!
We will be traveling with SCORE International, specifically with a missionary to the Dominican Republic.
For both of us, an answer to prayer. Specifically for me, I'll be able to give back using my nursing experience and skills as part of the team. For Sophia, it's an opportunity to not only serve, but to experience first-hand what takes place in the medical arena in an impoverished country. We have an opportunity to be a part of a medical missions team (comprised of Doctors, dentists, chiropractors, nurses, etc) to the Domincan Republic, where we "will set up a clinic in a local church in a village that the people have not had access to medical and dental services, and we will triage the patients and act accordingly. We will share the Love of Christ through our actions, we will share the Gospel of Jesus, We will share our God given talents and abilities to help these people of poverty." (JS)
What an opportunity!
The trip will take place October 21-28, 2017. The total cost of air, transportation, meals, and other expenses is $3200.00 for both of us. Our first payment of $500 is due 3/15.
We are asking for your help, first and foremost, in the way of PRAYER. With God, ALL things are possible! He can and will use us and every one of the team members to be His hands and feet and spread His love to every person we have the privilege to encounter while we are there. Prayer for safety and wisdom as we help the community where we will serve; that the Holy Spirit will touch lives and that Gods love will radiate from our clinic.
Second, we are asking for any amount of financial support you feel called to give. (Any additional monies collected beyond our goal will be donated toward medical supplies to be purchased in the DR.)
To ask for help is humbling, yet necessary. Without it, the trip for us is not possible. We are trusting God that He will provide every need for this trip for our entire team, as well as the community in the DR. We are so grateful for those of you who will stand and partner with us in prayerful or financial support, or both!!! It is an honor and privilege to be able to serve our God, and to be able to go and serve with my daughter will be an incredible blessing to us both.
