Mother is victim of a drunk driver

Donation protected
On Sunday Oct.22, 2017 at 1000am, my 66 year old mother Marcella Meyer, was taking an early lunch and driving home from Home Depot. Where she has been employed for nearly 20 years. She was hit by a drunk driver directly in the driver's door of her car. The drunk driver had ran a red light and was driving with drug paraphernalia, a suspended license and had NO INSURANCE. Emergency crews arrived using the Jaws of Life to free her from the wreckage. During her 11 hour emergency room stay, it was found she had suffered a shattered collar bone, several broken ribs, punctured lung, and her pelvis was broken in 3 places including the connecting bone to her spine. Severe bruising from blunt trauma was almost immediate. 4 procedures where required to place a tube into her lung due to the severe breakage of her ribs. Doctors are stating it will be months before she will be able to walk again and more than a year before she will be able to even consider working again. This accident was on top of her existing medical issues including 9 abdominal surgeries, etc. I have spoke with 2 attorneys now and both shed little hope in a financial recovery from this 31 year old drunk driver. Criminal charges have been filed but assistance for my mother is not looking promising. NEW ADDITION 02-01-2018 It has been 3 months and 10 days since the accident. The drunk driver has not been to court yet. Mom spent 23 days in the hospital, over 2 months in physical therapy and in January, has been given 6 more months by the specialist before she will be seen for evaluation. Mom has maintained a strong attitude and determination to walk and get back to life again. I'm so proud of her efforts. She is able to walk short distances with the use of a cane now. But still feeling the effects of the massive amount of bone breakage. We received donations from the original campaign and have used those funds to cover expenses including her house payments, house taxes, insurance, and needed items such as a "lift chair", etc. We are again asking for donations to help cover her ongoing house payments and hopefully help purchase a good used car for her. We are not a family of financial wealth but are a family with a wealth of great friends. I am asking you to give what you feel you can to help me help her. I know times are tough all over. I don't ask lightly. My and my family's heartfelt appreciation is truly yours.
