Mosvold-Johnson Hurricane Dorian Relief

Donation protected

Virginia Mosvold , Sissel  Mosvold-Johnson and her husband George Johnson were hit by the full force of  Hurricane Dorian, a category 5 monster sized  hurricane.  Old Freetown Farm  in Freeport, Grand Bahamas, was completely devastated by hurricane Dorian. A category 5 monster that sat and pounded on  their piece of paradise for three straight days resulting in massive flooding and unfathomable winds and loss.  If it hadn't been for George looking out the window and seeing the 20 foot wall of water that was barreling in on them, they wouldn't have survived.

They survived by shear will, intestinal fortitude and the resourcefulness of George.

Ginny was held by electrical wires which George had torn from the rafters of the attic,  he lashed her to the rafters to save her life and he managed to keep her head above water in the attic, her body. however, was in water for 3 days. She was also bruised  and bashed by floating debris.  How  Horrific! All the time they were  thinking that they were going to drown at any second.

Sissel and George fought to stay alive, and aided Ginny at all times.
They have nothing left. With the exception of her 2 little dogs,  3 outside dogs that survived on a mattress and 2 cats, all other farm animals were lost, the horses, pigs, donkeys, chickens, bunnies and guinea pigs. They also lost their home, wells, orchards, barns and all out buildings.

The biggest tragedy was that their beloved farm hand, Kinell, perished during the event.

Ginny is in the hospital in the Bahamas'.  Who knows how much medical care she may require, or whether she requires medical evacuation .  There is absolutely no insurance for any of this, and the hospital is in shambles with no electricity.

The Mosvold's are a very well known  in the Victoria, BC area. The  family farmed on the Saanich Peninsula and had Island View RV Park.

The Mosvold's have been my second family since Sissel was 12 years old.  For 40 years we have been through life together.  We have ridden horse together, raised birds together and she is more sister than friend. Most of all, we are all family.

I am asking to please help  these wonderful people to get out of the Bahamas' and start a new life.  There is nothing left, no money, no livelihood, no insurance and the tremendous hardship and trauma to try to learn to live again.

The funds are needed immediately.  There is also a fund raising dance and silent auction locally which is being put together by other friends of the family.  If you who are not comfortable donating money to the Go Fund Me, please feel free to contact me for other arrangements.
