Morgan Blackwind family

4/24/15 Update from Tauni:

Thank you so much to everyone who's contributed to the fund, or who even thought about it for a minute but couldn't. Morgan's cremation has been paid for, thanks to you all, and the preliminary legal fees as well. There will be more legal fees involved in filing of the will, changing the title on the house, and settling the estate. To those who've commented that Morgan's medical and credit card bills won't be a problem, that isn't necessarily true. Creditors must legally be notified and can lien against assets of the estate, in this case, the house. We haven't yet seen the medical bill and are still gathering information about credit card debt. Again, innumerable thanks to all of you.

Morgan Blackwind was only 53 years old. Throughout her too-short life, she suffered major trauma including abuse by her stepfather, kidney failure resulting in years of dialysis, and heart problems.

In 2008, her partner, Tauni discovered she was a match and donated one of her kidneys. They both recovered and were finally able to buy a house together in 2013.

Tuesday, April 7, after suffering in agony from what doctors told her was just a bad cold complicated by pneumonia, Morgan ended up in the emergency room and learned that she had Stage IV liver cancer that had exploded her rib open.

Only six days later, she died and her partner is faced with overwhelming financial hardship and the possibility she will lose the home she and her partner worked so hard to buy.

Morgan was the family breadwinner. Now Tauni is trying to cope with her grief while being barraged by medical bills, attorney costs (since they were unable to get married), funeral expenses, etc.

Tauni only has a part time job. She also has a teenage daughter. She needs funds to bury her partner and pay off the medical bills so she doesn't lose her home.

Morgan left us at sunset on April 13, 2015.  She died peacefully and gracefully, surrounded by loved ones. Please help her partner keep the  house Morgan bought to make sure the women who gave her the gift of a kidney always had a home.

Thank you to all who have donated so far. Morgan's family appreciates and needs as much financial support as possible at this time. Prayers and love are also greatly appreciated.
