Moon Tribe ~ A Rite of Passage

If you could speak to a pre-teen girl in our culture who is on the verge of womanhood, what would you want her to hear? 

If you met an adult woman who wanted to step into her life with power and clarity, how would you offer to help her?


Kate Knott and Erin Campbell at the Living Earth School believe in Rites of Passage for women and girls as a way to empower individuals and to heal culture. We believe in ritual and ceremony as our birthright. We believe in guiding girls into womanhood with intention, laughter and support. We believe in the ability of adult women to go back and experience the full honoring and acknowledgement that they might have missed as girls.

Every Memorial Day Weekend for the past several years, Kate, Erin and a team of inspiring women from the Living Earth School offer a four-day Moon Tribe Rite of Passage, alternating between one for girls, and the next year for adult women. We BELIEVE that Rites of Passage are a sacred inheritance from our ancestors and should not be tethered to money. So starting this year we want participation to be completely donation based. But the costs of food, materials, venue, insurance and administration still need to be covered. We are using many different strategies to make this happen--staff are completely donating their time that weekend...moms will be cooking and donating some food--however there are still costs to cover for this year and beyond.
