Cancer doesn't rest--it's a 24/7 beast and it takes focus and work to fight that battle and sometimes families just need a little help and some love from their community. The idea that a community could come together and make an impact on something as big & awful as cancer, this is what ignites us. What started off as a team of 6 paddlers out on the water for 24hrs to raise money for local families dealing with cancer, has now turned into multiple teams across the country! Last year 48,000 was raised, helping 48 families. Join team Portland's efforts in telling cancer to take a hike (or a paddle).
THE DETAILS
On Easter weekend our team will kickoff the event and paddle together from Willamette Park in Portland at 8am on Saturday April 15th. After that teams of two will be trading off every hour until the event ends at 8am on Sunday April 16th. We encourage you to join us throughout the 24hour event and paddle with us for as little or as long as you like. Let's show cancer who's the boss.
OUR GOAL
We are not a foundation or a charity - we don’t have red tape. Our goal is a simple one - fill envelopes with $1000 and get them in the hands of families dealing with the wrecking ball of cancer. We are hoping to support at least 6 families this way. It is a chance for us to give back and help make a difference in their lives. All the donations will go to local families affected by the beast that is cancer. It is an overwhleming battle for many and we hope to provide a glimmer of hope, a respite and the assurance that people out there have their backs. Let's Paddle it Forward.
