Monster & Sea 24/// Team Vernon

Donation protected
Dear Friends of the Sea,

In early spring of 2015, 6 people in Seattle paddled a 24 hour relay to raise some funds for families dealing with cancer.  Their goal :  stuff 5 envelopes with $1000 each , and put those in the hands of people who could use some help at a really tough time.
Through generous donations and support they blew past their goal and raised over $7000.  Seven envelopes  stuffed, seven families received some extra help to battle cancer head-on.

Monster & Sea was created by Troy.  He watched and supported his wife battle not one, but two forms of cancer simulatneously.   They won the fight.  The Monster was cancer and the Sea was where Troy found inspiration and stregnth.    He decided to live his fullest every day and to encourage others to do the same, to Go Because You Can.   Monster & Sea became more than a brand.  It became a culture, a philosophy and a force that created a community that now reaches across the continent.

Collectively over 4 years $371K has been raised.  371 Families helped.
On April 13-14 we start Year 5 and Team Kalavida will be one of 35 Teams paddling across the US, Canada, and the Caymans.
Our battle is always extra challenging in the wee hours of the night in Canada on the water as typically we have had winter conditions in Merritt.

This is the first year to have a Vernon Team!  AND the first Kids Team will be paddling with us for 12 hours from Kalamalka Beach.   Please support this local cause that gives back to community families directly.

Where does the money go?
The families get to decide.  This is not about research or a cure...it doesn't go to a charity...it goes to the people in the battle who need backup.  For groceries, bills, a meal out, some  much needed self-care or travel bills for treatment.

Please join us at Kalamaka Beach or have a coffee and snack at the Rail Trail Cafe and visit with the paddlers to keep us motivated for the 24 hrs.   Learn about efforts to stop Invasive Mussels and Keep Kal  Lake Blue as we are blessed with pristine waters to paddle on.

Drop off an envelope with a nomination for a local family.

Saturday April 13th 8 am - to Sunday April 14th 8 am
