A little background...
Monica Franklin is a strong single mother to 3 adult daughters, 1 son-in-law, and 2 amazing twin grandchildren. Her family is small, strong in their faith in God and very close-knit. After seeing her first 2 daughters complete their college educations and the youngest working towards her first degree, Monica began to pursue her own dream. She returned to college and earned a degree in Interior Design and eventually landed a position in an architecture firm.

The current situation...

Monica's health had always been good (she rarely caught a cold), but that took a radical shift this past summer. What began as pain and swelling in an ankle was quickly diagnosed as blood clots in her leg, as well as both lungs. Two weeks later, a biopsy revealed a rare and agressive uterine cancer (stage IV - clear cell adenoma). Major surgery soon followed and nearly all of the cancer was removed, but not totally. The next step was chemotherapy.
Although she is halfway through her rounds of chemo, the process takes a toll on her body. While the treatments destroy cancerous cells, it can also destroy healthy cells in the process. She has experienced significant weight loss and has required multiple blood transfusions due to the resulting anemia.
Her energy level, as well as her appetite, drops severely after every round of chemo. Combined with the recovery from surgery, she has been unable to return to work since late August. Fortunately, her employer is also a woman of faith and full of compassion. Her job is still there for her whenever she has the strength to put in a few hours.

The need...
The continued love and support from her children, extended family, church family and friends has been overwhelming. Prayers, phone calls, visits, financial blessings, cards and flowers are constant reminders of God's love for this woman. All too often, these caring people have made the same statement: "If you ever need anything, let me know."
The time has come to ask - the need is financial. Unable to earn an income for the past several months has made it very difficult to manage basic monthly expenses. The amount projected will cover these bills until chemo is completed. Although the date when she will be able to return to working full time remains uncertain, her army of supporters is praying for her total healing.
We, her daughters, would be eternally grateful if you could help support our (Super)mom in her time of need.
