Monarchs Scholarship Fund

Help us offer financial aid for our low-income players who would like to compete at girls' nationals.

The LA Monarchs gives girls from across Southern California the opportunity to play ball with other girls. Our players all play primarily on traditional league teams with the boys, but once a week, they travel to South Pasadena to practice and scrimmage together. We have players who travel from as far as Santa Barbara, Bakersfield, and Temecula just for the joy of playing with other girls who love the sport. With the Monarchs, they can play purely for the love of the game.

Opportunities to play against other girls are rare, but once a year Baseball for All hosts a National Girls' Baseball Tournament. Held in Rockford, IL, home of the Rockford Peaches (the WW2 era women's team featured in the movie A League of Their Own), the tournament lets our girls spend 4 days forming friendships with girls from across the country who love baseball as much as they do. The players meet female mentors, including women who have played baseball in college, in the minor leagues, and professionally in the WW2 All American Girls' league, and women who are breaking barriers coaching MLB teams, or who are striving to break into the MLB umpire ranks. And they play a lot of baseball. It really means a lot to them to know they are not alone.

Traveling to Rockford for the tournament is difficult for players from low income families, however. Flights for one parent and child plus accommodation will take the cost over $1000. We would like to offer these players financial aid and are asking for your help in setting up a financial aid fund so that the opportunities being developed for girls in baseball are open to all girls, regardless of household income.
