Monadnock's campaign for Monadnock Art X Tech

Tax deductible
Hello! We are MAxT Makerspace, located in Peterborough NH and our members have launched this campaign to purchase a 30"x50" 1979 Charles Brand Etching Press, capable of printing woodblocks and linoleum as well as etchings, collagraphs, embossments and monoprints.

HOW THIS BENEFITS YOUR COMMUNITY
Our members are raising money for this piece of equipment for a number of reasons.  Many are print artists - making etchings and other prints is what they do but accessing a press is prohibitively expensive for an individual.  Many of our artists learned print making at school, but have a hard time continuing their craft.  Thats where the power of a shared community space like MAxT comes in. We combine resources and make it very affordable for anyone to use the equipment they need.

In addition, we have members who are looking for a venue to teach classes that will be made available to students in High School and older, keeping this fantastic art form alive in our community!

Because a printing press can create multiple consistent works, it will also used creating hand made, high quality posters and signs for local businesses and events. This printing press is in pristine condition and could be a huge addition to our artistic community. This will be a fantastic resource for artists in the Monadnock region, and will be a teaching tool for those who want to learn about printing through our workshops and classes. This is where the power of a shared community space like MAxT comes in. We combine resources and make it very affordable for anyone to use the equipment they need.

WHAT IS A PRINTING PRESS?
A printing press is a device used to transfer ink from one surface to another by using a large amount of pressure.  Before the press was invented around 1439, transferring ink to paper or cloth required consistent rubbing. Printing presses as a technology has not changed much since then - artists are still using the hand cranked press today.

Many famous artists you know and love were printmakers in addition to painters, sculptors, etc. Artists such as Van Gogh, Albrecht Durer, Picasso, Rembrandt, and Warhol, just to name a few. The printing press makes it possible for artists to make multiple prints with a clean consistency that can be hard to achieve by hand.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Every donation counts, big or small! We are truly grateful for the wonderful and committed community we live in. If donating doesn't feel like something you can do, we would greatly appreciate any sharing you could do. Whether that be on facebook, instagram, or in person, help us spread the word!

Our members are providing some incentives as well!  Those who give $50 or more will be given a Thank You print!  Those who give at $100 or more will be eligible for a free workshop once the press is in place!
